I listen to podcasts quite a little bit—formerly sports, news & politics, and business—brushing my teeth, in the gym, walking the dog, cleaning the house, cooking, and putting myself to sleep at night. After a while doing so, the way people viewed me changed. Whenever anyone had a discussion about the state of current affairs and they weren’t sure of something, the attention would turn to me.

Truly, I was voluntarily and without effort employing The Slight Edge, repeatedly engaging in small activities that, over time, create huge results. But I didn’t know how excited I was about the whole thing. After all, it’s all news. Garbage in, garbage out, right? But what if I turned that garbage into mental nutrients? What if I could have such a profound effect on my life, but in a much more positive way?

It took me less than ten minutes to seek and subscribe to several podcasts from the leading lifestyle and personal growth figures of our day. Now looking back, I haven’t altered any of my daily activities as I can still go about my day as I please. The results I’ve seen, however, have been staggering. I am happier, optimistic, and confident. Essentially, life is much, much better, and it was already pretty good.

Allow me to share my life-changing podcast subscriptions, all completely free:

The Art of Charm – “You’ll learn our top strategies to improve your careerconfidence, lifestyle and love-life from top experts like life and business-hackers Tim Ferriss, Ramit Sethi and Noah Kagan to Seth Godin, Simon Sinek, Olivia Fox, The Art of Charm team and more.” Jordan Harbinger is intent on all of his guests delivering cutting-edge value, so I have heard things get somewhat contentious on the casts when he feels the guest might be bloviating, and I have never walked away without some type of growth.

NPR’s TED Radio Hour – “The TED Radio Hour is a journey through fascinating ideas: astonishing inventions, fresh approaches to old problems, new ways to think and create.” Hearing the guests opens up an attitude of possibilities and an outlook of wonder toward the world.

Optimize with Brian Johnson – “Optimize with Brian Johnson features the best Big Ideas from the best optimal living books.” Publishing new content sometimes twice per day, Brian likes to do “micro-classes”—in addition to interviews—summarizing key concepts from the best books for those on the go.

The School of Greatness – “The goal of the School of Greatness is to share inspiring stories from the most brilliant business minds, world class athletes and influential celebrities on the planet; to help you find out what makes great people great.” Lewis is an inspiring former pro athlete and world record holder.

The Tim Ferriss Show – “Each episode, I deconstruct world-class performers from eclectic areas (investing, sports, business, art, etc.) to extract the tactics and tricks you can use.” This New York Times bestselling lifestyle and fitness veteran gets mega-deep into interviews with some of the most ground-breaking thinkers of our day.

I have a great amount of pride in this breakthrough only diminished a bit by realizing it’s a new twist on an old concept preached by Dale Carnegie, Norman Vincent Peal, Stephen Covey and hosts of others in their field. They encouraged you to turn your car into your life classroom through audiobooks. Now, with the advent of the smartphone, you can turn your entire world into a university of growth without spending the hundreds of dollars that would be necessary to purchase this amount of content.

Try it. And I’d love it if you could come back and share your experience with it. I guarantee it will change your life.
